We at Beehive Lock & Security Ltd are working to make our site (https://www.beehivesecurity.co.uk) accessible to people with disabilities.

What web accessibility is

An accessible site allows visitors with disabilities to browse the site with the same or a similar level of ease and enjoyment as other visitors. This can be achieved with the capabilities of the system on which the site is operating, and through assistive technologies.

Accessibility adjustments on this site

We have adapted this site in accordance with WCAG 2.1 guidelines, and have made the site accessible to level AA. This site's contents have been adapted to work with assistive technologies, such as screen readers and keyboard use. As part of this effort, we have also:

  • Used the Accessibility Wizard to find and fix potential accessibility issues

  • Set the language of the site

  • Set the content order of the site's pages

  • Defined clear heading structures on all of the site's pages

  • Added alternative text to images

  • Implemented colour combinations that meet the required colour contrast

Accessibility arrangements in the organization 

Beyond the website, accessibility is built into how we work as locksmiths. We supply, fit, and advise on hardware that makes doors easier to open, close, and secure for people with limited grip, strength, or mobility, including:

  • Lever handles and easy-turn cylinders that reduce the force needed to lock and unlock

  • Smart and keyless entry systems (including Nuki), removing the need to handle a key at all

  • Wide-grip thumbturns and low-resistance multipoint mechanisms

  • Door viewers and door furniture positioned at accessible heights

  • Adjustments to reduce door drag and stiffness that can make locking difficult for less able hands

 

We're happy to carry out a no-obligation assessment of your door and locking hardware, and can support documentation for occupational therapist referrals or Disabled Facilities Grant applications where accessible home adaptations are being arranged.
